ArtWorks XXVIII is Saturday! Here’s Your Guide

Are you a college graduate just building your art collection, a young family ready to dress the walls or a collector wanting to add a piece or two to your collection? This lively art auction is just what you need!

In its 28th year, the super-fun event taking over The Rep (601 Main St., Little Rock) will feature artwork from 90 of central Arkansas’ most notable artists that patrons can bid on in 18014288390_d40455f663_ksilent and live auctions throughout the night. For the first time ever, The Rep is using the online bidding system, Bidpal, to allow patrons to place bids during the silent auction. Get the rundown on how to use the program here!

Come a little early to make note of your favorite pieces while you enjoy lively music from The Goat Band. And while you’re taking in the art and enjoying the music, feast on light appetizers from local eateries, including Three Fold Noodles & Dumpling Co., The Southern Gourmasian, Bravo! Cucina 18203194481_a881113152_kItaliana, RSVP Catering and Sufficient Grounds (check out the food offered on Inviting Arkansas‘ blog here!). There will be bars set up throughout the theatre with drinks from L&L Imports, Rocktown Distillery, Ozark Brewing Co. and Public House Brewing Company.
The live auction will take over The Rep MainStage for the first time ever and will feature an awesome lineup of guest emcees (including cast members from Hooking Up with The Second City) who will be introducing each beautiful piece of art. Special guest emcees include:

The Rep Presents ArtWorks XXVII This Saturday

It’s almost here!

ArtWorks1On Saturday, April 25, Arkansas Repertory Theatre supporters will come together to celebrate the state’s largest nonprofit professional theatre company at ArtWorks XXVII, a silent and live art auction. The silent auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m.

This fast-paced event features both a silent and live auction featuring work by more than 90 of central Arkansas’ most talented artists and artisans. Auction pieces include pottery, watercolor, acrylic, photography, sculpture, jewelry and more.

Guest emcees will take the stage throughout the evening to auction off artwork in the live auction in The Rep’s Main Lobby. This year’s celebrity emcees include: Lance Restum, Arkansas Travelers Marketing Director; The Honorable Buddy Villines, Retired Pulaski County Judge; Bill Tsutsui, Hendrix College President and The Rep Board Member; Dawn Scott, THV11 Anchor; Alan Leverett, Arkansas Times Publisher; Pamela Smith, Little Rock School District Marketing Director; Renee Shapiro, KATV Saturday Morning Daybreak Co-Host; Lisa Fischer, Co-Host of Jeff and Lisa on B98.5FM; Alan Rail, Lead IT Specialist at sponsor Southwest Power Pool; Charlie Coleman, Attorney at sponsor Wright Lindsey and Jennings LLP and The Rep Board Member; and Bob Hupp, The Rep Producing Artistic Director.

All artists who make a donation to ArtWorks are given the opportunity to display their pieces in The Rep lobby throughout The Rep’s MainStage Season. The art displayed in The Rep’s lobbies throughout the season are available for purchase with proceeds from gallery sales going directly to artists. Proceeds from donated art sold at ArtWorks supports Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s general operating budget.

Saints & Sinners: How to Use Online Bidding System BidPal

SSlogoHiResArkansas Repertory Theatre’s biggest event of the year, Saints & Sinners, is almost here!

In addition to magical entertainment that will take over the Statehouse Convention Center on Saturday, Jan .31, funds will be raised for The Rep through silent, super silent and live auctions.

For the silent and super silent, we are utilizing the easy online bidding system, BidPal, for patrons. With the site live now, head over to the BidPal page NOW and start your bidding! Here are some common questions about getting started:

How do I find items?

You can find items by pressing one of the four BLUE buttons on the Main Menu:

  • Enter Item Number
  • View All Items
  • View Categories
  • Items with No Bids

How do I bid on an item?Devices

You can bid from anywhere, any time! Find the item you are interested in by pressing one of the four BLUE buttons listed above. Find the item and press “Submit Bid.”

Where are the items I bid on?

The items you bid on are listed “View My Items.” The icons are as follows:

  • Checkmark: You are the high bidder
  • Exclamation Point: You have been outbid
  • X: Item has been sold

Can BidPal automatically bid for me?

Once you have submitted a bid, you will be prompted to enter a max bid. Upon doing so, BidPal will automatically bid on your behalf, by increment, whenever you are outbid, to your max bid amount. NOTE: ONLY THE CURRENT HIGH BIDDERR CAN ENTER A MAX BID.

Was I outbid?

If you see a flashing OUTBID message, tap it or press “View My Items” to see what you were outbid on!

Here is some more information about the silent auction at Saints & Sinners:

  • At the event, the silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. and will close by 8:30 p.m. All items in the silent auction have an item number affixed or nearby. Enter the item number into your smartphone to bid on the item. Each incremental bid amount is displayed on BidPal and constitutes a valid bid.
  • An announcement will be made at the time the auction closes. At closing, the highest bid that meets the minimum-increase rule constitutes the winning bid. Payments may be made immediately through BidPal using Discover card or paid for at the cashier’s table starting at 9 p.m. Payments can be made using check, Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
  • Items may be claimed once payment is complete. Pickup of silent auction items closes during live auction and will reopen once the live auction is completed.
  • All items must be taken home on the night of the auction unless other arrangements have been made with The Rep.
